 Item #2: Freeport Lincoln Douglas Debate Collectible Print
The painting entitled, The Freeport Doctrine, on display at the Highland Community College, Clarence Mitchell Library in Freeport, IL, depicts the Lincoln and Douglas August 27, 1858 debate and historic events of the day. Its imagery was the basis for the monument of Lincoln and Douglas in Debate by Lily Tolpo completed in 1992. Prints of high quality reproduction of the painting were sold thoughout the project, monument unveiled on the134th debate anniversary, Debate Square, Freeport, IL. |
